Civilization V: Arabia

Civilization V: Arabia

Civilization V: Arabia
The Caliphate arises after the death of the Prophet Muhammad – it is founded by the prophet's disciples. This happened in 632 A.D. During its existence, the caliphate grew to a very impressive size – it can be correlated with the Roman Empire at the height of its power. Although the state is desolate, nevertheless, fertile floodplains and oases ensure the development of many large and powerful cities.
The player will take on the role of Harun al-Rashid, the fifth caliph of the Abbasid dynasty. He was called the Just One, as his reign led the caliphate to such power that it had never known before. There was a cultural and scientific upsurge in society, which was perfectly combined with the fact that al-Rashid was one of the most influential figures in the world at that time. His era was the golden age of Arabia – prosperity and peace. Ships of the desert, this name is a distinctive feature of the Arabs in Civilization. The caravans lengthen by one and a half times, spreading the religion of their city much faster (if we take Islam, it will turn out quite canonical). Another feature is oil – this resource doubles throughout the empire. In the later stages of the game, this can lead to powerful prosperity, as everyone needs oil, and the price is set by the one who has it.
Arabia has one unique building, the bazaar. It replaces the regular market. In terms of production, it costs the same price, but it brings an additional unit of gold – two instead of one, and still the same twenty-five percent of the city's profit. Also, each oasis and oil cell brings two additional gold units. The trade routes that are laid in the cities with the bazaar bring more for both the owner of the city and the owner of the route – one additional unit of gold for each. Also, all rare resources are duplicated. This is a very powerful bonus, as it gives you the opportunity to trade resources – both for money and for other resources (rare or strategic), or necessary political decisions.
A unique Arab unit is an archer on a camel. Unlike the knight that appears in other civilizations, it is a ranged unit, which gives some advantages. Despite their weakness to spearmen (as with all mounted units), which is also multiplied by the weakness of archers in close combat, camel riders are still very important. They can move after a shot, avoiding a blow, and their attack is quite powerful – it is in the era of chivalry that players prefer to capture new territories for themselves.
